Obituary

Silvio Napolitano, Jr., 84, of Providence, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 15th.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Silvio Sr. and Anna (Scaramuzzi) Napolitano. He served honorably for two years in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan as a Medical Helper.

After his military service, Silvio was employed by Hemingway trucking business for many years and J & M Spraying, working beside his beloved cousin Michael Scaramuzzi, who he also considered a son. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, listening to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and spending time with family and friends. Silvio will be remembered for his charismatic personality, kind heart and sense of humor. 

The family would like to acknowledge and thank his daughter, Dawn Napolitano and grandson, Richard Napolitano, for their constant sacrifice, care, and compassion. They were his 24/7 caregivers allowing Silvio to remain in his home – the same home where he was born and raised. He was comforted daily by the love and support from family and friends and his dog companions. 

A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he is survived by five children: Silvio Napolitano, III and wife Leanora; Michael Joseph Napolitano and wife Veronica;Joseph Michael Napolitano and wife Patricia; Dawn Napolitano and Debra Scaramuzzi; seven grandchildren: Melissa, Silvio IV, Ashley, Richard, Michael, Andrea and Danielle; seven great-grandchildren: Silvio V, Gianna, Olivia, Brayden, Nora, Anthony, and Harlie. He also leaves niece Darlene Reza Rossi, nephew John Reza Sr., great nephew John Reza, Jr., son-in-law, Richard Loffredo and many beloved cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Doris Reza and Barbara Palisi, and a great-grandson, Gavin Napolitano.

His funeral will be from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, Friday March 22nd at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  Visiting hours are Thursday, 5:00 – 8:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the RISPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, RI 02915.
