Bruce F. Medeiros, Sr., of East Providence passed away on October 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Peter and Regina (Byron) Medeiros.
Bruce worked several decades as a short order cook at Olneyville New York System in Providence and other restaurants throughout Rhode Island. Cooking was his passion and spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
He was the former husband and steadfast companion of Charlene Dinsmore and the loving and adored father of their children, Leah Medeiros of West Warwick, Bruce Medeiros Jr., of Cranston, Nicholas Medeiros of Cranston and Bryan Medeiros of Cranston.
He was the caring brother of Peter Medeiros of Warren, John Medeiros of Colonial Heights, VA., Charles Medeiros, Sr., of Chesterfield, VA., George Medeiros of Pennsylvania, Dale Medeiros of Providence, Patricia McKay of Myrtle Beach, SC., Regina Flynn of North Providence, Denise Dulac of North Providence for whom he shared a close bond, Lori Wilkinson of Coventry and the late Michael Medeiros of West Warwick.
He was the cherished grandfather of Alyxandrea, Ethan, Emilee, Abigail, Ayden, Michael, Ava, Ethan Michael, Jace and the late Corey Austin.
He was the respected uncle of many nieces and nephews and loyal friend to all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 13th from 10-11am followed by a funeral home service at 11am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston MA 02215.
