Iacchei, Eva (DiBattista) 97 ½, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Iacchei. They had been married for 61 wonderful years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Archangelo and Rosina (D’Orio) DiBattista.
Eva was a devoted wife and loving mother. Her children are thankful for the beautiful life she gave them. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and unwavering support. Our lives are richer for having been touched by her.
Eva was active well into her 90’s. She enjoyed cooking, baking (especially pepper biscuits), reading, playing cards, and good times at the North Providence Senior Center. She had worked at Calart Flowers and Weingeroff Enterprises.
The family would like to give special thanks to her personal caregivers who loved and supported her at home and during her illness. Also appreciated is the loving care she received from the staff at Cherry Hill Manor and Miriam Hospital during her final days.
Eva is survived by her loving children, Cheryl M. Johnson (Dr. Larry) and Joseph A. Iacchei (Mary). She was the adored grandmother of Michael Iacchei (Emily) and Jill Iacchei; great grandmother to Evie and Julian Iacchei. She was predeceased by her siblings Lucy Ventura, Maria Cotoia, Daniel and Angelo DiBattista. Eva is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 9:45 AM from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Augustine Church, 635 Mt. Pleasant Ave Providence. Calling hours will be held Tuesday 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to D.A.V.
