Mr James Henry Winters

James Henry Winters, 84, of North Providence, RI,
was called Home on the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2017.

He was born in Washington DC on April 19, 1933 to the
late James Winters and Ruby (Hawkins) Winters. After 22 years
James retired from the United States Navy as a First Class Petty
Officer. He served in the Vietnam War and was recognized for
accomplishments above and beyond the call of duty.

After serving most of his military time, being based around the
world, James ended up based in Weymouth, MA,, this is when he
met and eventually married Evelyn, and they spent over a half
of century together.

He loved fishing, playing cards with family and friends, watching
sports, going to yard sales and flea markets and collecting antiques
and many different collectibles.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Winters, Two daughters,
Terica L. and Deborah Winters, of Providence, RI and Baltimore, MD,
two sons, Steven W. and Eric Xavier Winters, of East Providence
and Providence, RI, two step-sons, Leon E. Jr. and Donald L. Correy,
of Woonsocket, RI, one sister, Jean Johnson of Maryland, 2 God
Daughters and a loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

He is predeceased by eight sisters, two brothers and one step-son.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 12th from 9-10am followed by a service in the funeral home from 10am-11am. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
