Leon Emanuel Correy, Sr., 82 of Providence, RI passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 24 ,2017.
He was the beloved husband of Evangelene (Hicks) Correy.
They were happily married for 57 years.
Born in Hartford, CT., he was the son of the late Emanuel and Stella (Boulden) Correy. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as Extruder Operator for many years for various companies in RI.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Leon E. Correy, Jr., and his wife Debra, Geraldine Carpenter, Gwendolyn Carpenter, Donald Correy and his wife Lori, Shelia Carpenter, Reginald Carpenter and his wife Nanette, Rodney Correy, Leonard Carpenter and Calvin Correy; a sister, Frances Wells and her husband Roger and a brother, Frederick Correy and his wife Margaret. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Latisha DeWitt, Leon E. Correy III, Larry Robinson, Katrina Carpenter, James Carpenter, Eric Correy, Kashif Carpenter, Leonard Walker, Darryl Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Brianna Correy, Jayleen Correy and Jaynia Correy and 15 dear great-grandchildren. He was the loving father of the late Darell Correy, Larry Carpenter and devoted brother of the late Stella Torregano.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, March 30th from 9-11 am followed by a funeral home service at 11am. Burial will be private.
