Obituary

Albert Marano, 87, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Izzi) Marano.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Angelina (Magnone) Marano.

Albert and his late wife Carolyn were co-owners of CAL-MAR Jewelry Inc. for 20 years. He was also an accomplished accordionist. His gift of music touched many in the community, playing for the North Providence Memorial Day Parade, the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Cavalcade of Bands, and many more. Early in his career, he played on the television show, Breakfast at the Sheraton. He also played for former President of the United States, George H.W. Bush, by way of personal invitation, as well as various other political party events. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians for over 70 years, was rated among the top 3 accordionists in the Northeast region of the country, and is in the Rhode Island Jazz Hall of Fame.

He is survived by his loving sons, John Marano and his wife Lisa, Dr. Albert Marano and his wife Natalie, Stephen Marano and his wife Sandra, and Roger Marano and his wife Tricia. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Albert Jr., John Jr., Anthony, Melissa, Carolyn, Amanda, Stephen, and Roger Jr.; great-grandchildren, Marco, Giovanna, Isabella, Britlyn, Brielle, Adelaide, Luca, and Journee; and godsons, Dr. Joseph Izzi Jr., and Dr. Jason Izzi. He was the devoted brother of the late Anthony Marano, Alfred Magnone, Angelina Conforti, Rose Pate, and Onorena Tetreault, and uncle to his dear nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 9:45 a.m. at the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Ann’s Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be Sunday 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Albert’s memory may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, Attn: Donor Services, 225 North Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
