Obituary

On Friday, September 27, 2019, Angelo Macera passed away at the age of 68. Born on July 6, 1951 in Castelnuovo Parano, Italy, Angelo was the son of Erasmo Macera of Cranston, Rhode Island and the late Eduarda (Ciacciarelli) Macera. Imigrating to the United States at nine years of age, he was the first in his family to graduate from high school, breaking records in football, and receiving the Cranstonian Citizen’s Award, and the first in his family to become a college graduate, receiving his degree from The University of Rhode Island. Angelo was married to Joyce (Falvo) Macera for 41 years. In addition to his wife, Angelo leaves two sons, Dr. Marc Macera and his wife Jennifer of East Greenwich, and Christopher Macera of Boston, Massachusetts. Angelo also leaves a brother, Luigi Macera and his wife Stella and nieces Eduarda and Camilla. Angelo worked at American Insulated Wire for over 25 years, and also worked at the Providence Civic Center, was a teacher, and entrepreneur. Angelo was a communicant at St. Rocco Church in Johnston and participated for four decades carrying the saint in the church’s yearly procession. Devoted to his family, and proud of his sons’ many accomplishments, Angelo also enjoyed homemade food, films, sports and traveling, recently taking a trip to Paris with his wife to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Angelo lived a wonderful and full life, always surrounded by friends and family who will deeply miss him.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday October 4, 2019 in St. Rocco Church, 927 Atwood Ave. Johnston. At 11 A.M. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
