Anthony Michael Joseph, Jr., 41, of Jacksonville, Florida and formerly of North Providence, took his own life on Friday May 19th after a long battle with mental and physical illness. He chose a spot in nature that he loved to leave this world, and his final words to us were those of love.
We know how hard he fought to stay with us as long as he could, and we want his legacy not to be of how his life ended but of the many gifts he gave to us when his light shone bright and true.
We cherish the memories of his contagious laughter and quick wit, his charming presence and radiant smile, his deep care and compassion for those in need and for our world at large.
Born in Providence, he was a son of Anthony M., Sr., and Elizabeth (Brown) Joseph. In addition to his parents, he is survived by five siblings, Mark Joseph (Mariel), Rebekah Joseph, Elizabeth Joseph, Laura Joseph, and Aaron Joseph; a niece, Nina Joseph-Elguero; as well an many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday June 10th at 10:00 am at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Visiting hours will be at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, Friday June 9th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm.
