Obituary

Barbara A. Palisi, 83, of Providence, passed away Tuesday.  She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Palisi.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Silvio and Anna (Scaramuzzi) Napolitano.

Barbara met her husband while he was stationed in the Navy at Quonset.  Shortly after their marriage, they moved to New York, where she became a dress maker. 

Barbara and her husband returned to Rhode Island ten years later. She became an LPN and worked in the ICU Unit at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Providence. After many years she joined her sister at the ATMED Treatment Center in Johnston.  She loved to travel, camp with her nieces and nephews, cook and bake, especially at Christmas, making trays of Italian cookies.

She is survived by a brother, Silvio Napolitano, Jr. of Providence; a niece and great nephew, Dawn Napolitano and Ricky Napolitano, who also were her caretakers; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Doris A. Reza, RN.

Visiting hours will be at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, Tuesday 10-11 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.  In honor of her love for animals, please make memorial contributions to the RIASPCA, 186 Amaral Street. Riverside, RI 02915.
