Bernadette V. Stack (Mele) 88 of Providence passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. She was the beloved wife of F. William Stack and together they were happily married for 66 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Marietta (Morgera) Mele.

Bernadette was a loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was passionate about flowers and gardening. Bernadette was also an excellent cook, and she enjoyed sharing her family recipes. Among many hobbies, she enjoyed birds and completing puzzles alongside her husband. Most importantly, she loved spending time with family.

Besides her husband, Bernadette is survived by her sister Mary Spagnoli and loving children, Kathleen Stack, Francis Stack Jr., Edward Stack and his wife Leslie, Lorayne McGuinness, Robert Stack and his husband Van Souvannasane. Her cherished grandchildren, Sean McGuinness and his fiancé Katelyn Mello, Brian McGuinness and his wife Sara, Allison Iacone and her husband Michael, and Tina Pollitt. Also, her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Jonathan Iacone and Luke and Lily McGuinness. She was the loving grandmother of the late Jonathan Stack and sister of the late John and Ciro Mele.

Visiting hours will be Saturday (MORNING) from 7:30am -8:15am at the MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight St., Providence. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
