Bertha Rezendes

NORTH SMITHFIELD- Bertha Rezendes, 93, of North Smithfield, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield. She was the devoted and beloved wife of the late John P. Polit, whom passed away in 1995, and also the late Manuel Rezendes.

Born on January 9, 1927 in Central Falls, RI, she was the dear daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalia (Tondreau) Corriveau.

For many years, she worked as an assembler in the textile industry.

Bertha found pride in the simplicity of life. She enjoyed staying busy around the house which she found to be relaxing. She liked to sing and also stay active. Though she never had a driver’s license, Bertha found freedom in walking and she loved to do so. She will be remembered by all for her gentle and caring ways. She will be reminisced by all as a strong, gentle, loving, and supportive woman. Bertha’s kindness was touched by everyone met along the way. Her work ethic was unlike no other. She was truly beautiful both inside and out. Above all, Bertha was most happy when she was in the presence of and making memories with her treasured family.

Bertha is survived by her cherished daughters: Sandra Panosian, Mona Albanese and her husband Anthony, and Patricia Amaral and her husband Donald; her loving grandchildren: Nicholas Trudel and his wife Evy, Melissa Trudel, Anthony Albanese, Jr. and his wife Kim, Elizabeth Vincent and her husband Michael, and Dr. Matthew Amaral; her adored great-grandchildren: Jacob Minni, Nicholas John Trudel, Gia Albanese, Ty Trudel, Roclan Albanese, Emme Albanese, and Ellie Vincent; also many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Bertha’s services were held privately. A celebration of her life will be held at a date and time to be announced.
