Obituary

PROVIDENCE- Carmela “Millie” Sangermano, 93, a lifelong resident of Providence, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at her home. She was the devoted wife for over fifty years to the late John Sangermano, Sr., whom passed away on August 28, 2004.

Born on July 15, 1927, in Providence, she was the loving daughter of the late Placido and Anna (Meo) Bongiovanni.

Carmela loved her job of being a home maker. She had the important obligation of taking care of her four sons, which she greatly treasured.

In her spare time, Carmela enjoyed tending to her garden, going out to eat with her husband, and visiting Goddard Park. She enjoyed cooking and she especially liked to make her favorite Sunday dinner meal, macaroni and meatballs. Above all, Carmela enjoyed making memories and spending time with her devoted family.

Carmela is survived by her three cherished and proud sons: Steven Sangermano and his wife Beatrice of Warwick, David Sangermano and his wife Claire of Providence, and Michael Sangermano, Sr. and his wife Donna of North Providence; her four dear grandchildren: Stacy Sangermano, Amanda Sangermano, Michael Sangermano, Jr., and Brittany Sangermano; also her six beautiful great grandchildren: Devon Sangermano, Olivia Duclos, Arabella Morrill, Theodore (Teddy) Morrill, Lucas Sangermano, and Michael Sangermano, III; also numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carmela is predeceased by her precious son, John Sangermano, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, from 9 AM- 10 AM, at A.A. Mariani and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence. A funeral home service will immediately follow the visitation, at 10 AM.

Following the service, Carmela’s Burial with her husband and son will take place at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.

In accordance with State of RI Mandates, 50 people maximum may be in the funeral home at all times. Face masks and social distancing practices must be adhered to.
