PROVIDENCE- Charles P. Francisco, 94, of Providence, formerly of North Providence, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Antonetta (Papa) Francisco, with whom he enjoyed 49 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on September 19, 1926, in Johnston, RI, Charles was one of seven children born to the late Leo V. and Molly C. (Ardente) Francisco.
A proud and patriotic man, Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Charles worked as a laborer at Electric Boat.
A man of great faith, Charlie, along with his wife, was a very active parishioner of St. Anthony Church in North Providence. He assisted in the St. Anthony Food Ministry and the St. Edward’s Food Pantry, was a part of the Usher ministry, and was a member of the St. Anthony Holy Name Society. Charlie was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Dillon Council.
In his spare time, Charlie liked to cook, play cards, and work on puzzles. He was an ardent sports fan, especially football. He, along with his wife, enjoyed square dancing and bowling. Charlie was a great friend to many and always took the opportunity to help someone in need. Above all, Charlie was most happy when he was in the presence of and making memories with his late wife. The two of them were inseparable and enjoyed each other’s company to the fullest extent.
Charlie is survived by his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews to whom he was a devoted and loving uncle. He also leaves behind his many extended family members.
In addition to his wife and parents, Charles is predeceased by his siblings, John Francisco, Leo Francisco, Jr., George Francisco, Gladys Fox, Grace Paquette; Jennie Bauer, and Rose Cappuccillo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Charles's Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Please go directly to the church if you plan on attending.
Burial will be private for immediate family.
