Obituary

Claudette M. Bardsley, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 28th, surrounded by the family she loved, nurtured, and cared for her entire life.  She was the beloved wife of the late Francis “Allen” Bardsley, Jr.

Born in Providence, she was a cherished daughter of the late James and Rose (DeAngelis) Coletti.

She is survived by two sisters, Mary Jane DiMarzio and her husband Ralph, and Rosemary Feeney and her husband Larry; eight nieces and nephews: Denise, Joseph, James, Brian, Cathy, David, Karen, and Steven; and 11 treasured great-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Michael Coletti.

Claudette was a light in the world.  For most of her life, she acted as a caretaker for others.  As a constant gift-giver, multiple generations of family, friends and neighbors were fortunate to be on the receiving end of her endless, thoughtful gifts, from never-forgotten birthday cards, to plates of homemade Italian cookies at the holidays, chocolates from Fannie Farmer and See’s, tailor-made birthday and Christmas gifts matching the recipients’ likes and interests, weekly phone conversations, and more.    She was a hard-worker, generous, and a great conversationalist, good at including all.

She had a love for languages, kept herself well-informed on the news of the day, and enjoyed watching PBS shows, especially Masterpiece Theater.  Her memory was prodigious, and she was the family’s trusted historian and fact-checker.   She offered support, respect, and kindness to all.   Most of all, she will be remembered for being a loving daughter, wife, sister, and aunt who was entirely devoted to her family.   Never one to reveal her age, she will remain “forever sixteen”.

Her funeral will be from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, 10:00 am Monday March 4th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence.  Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.  Visiting hours are Sunday 3:00 -6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Edwards Food & Wellness Center, 5 Gibbs Street, North Providence, RI 02904.
