Colonel Robert G Arciero

Arciero, Colonel Robert G.  (United States Army, ret.), 85, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 8, 2017.

A native of Rhode Island, he graduated from La Salle Academy in 1950 and Providence College in 1954 with a degree in Economics.  He later received a Master of Arts in Religious Studies from Providence College in 1981.   Following his college graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army where he served his country for the next 25 years.  His military career was marked by honor and distinction.  He was awarded numerous medals and decorations for his military service, including the Legion of Merit with First Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Army Commendation Medal.  He was also recognized for his combat tours in both Korea and Vietnam.  

During his life, he showed his love for people and giving through his commitment to many charitable causes and other initiatives that reflected his core beliefs.  His utmost priority, however, was his devotion to his family, providing for them and experiencing their life events in every possible way. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara (Muro); five children: Robert Arciero, Diane Murphy, Michael Arciero, Maria Branchaud, and Patricia Arciero-Craig; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was the brother of Tina Nani, Diane Kane, and the late Rudy Arciero.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 8 A.M. from A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. at St. Ambrose Church, 191 School St. Albion, RI. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail (Route 2), Exeter, RI. Calling hours will be Friday, June 16, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
