Obituary

Pastor Curtis Isom, of Woonsocket, transitioned from this life to Glory on March 13, 2023 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.

Curtis Isom was born in Providence RI on January 4, 1959 to the late George “Pongo” Burgison and Carolyn Ann “Cookie” Isom. He was one of 15 children.

Curtis attended Central High School and graduated from Davies Academy in Connecticut. He served sometime in the United States Army. He was a master Barber and had worked at Kandy’s Beauty Salon. He had also worked for Isom Brothers Construction.

Elder Isom had served with and was ordained by Pastor Chontell Washington. He now serves with his current Pastor and Love of his life, his wife of 16 years, Pastor Deidre (Araujo) Isom.

He worked in the Men’s Ministry, was a prolific teacher of the word and enjoyed singing. He was the director of the men’s sober house for I am Moving Forward Deliverance Tabernacle, where he served as the Assistant Pastor as well as the executive Director for the Outreach Ministry. He loved music and spending time with the grandchildren, He loved growing plants and collecting things he saw that he thought may have value.

In addition to his parents, Curtis Isom is preceded in death by his siblings Ronald Douglas, Linda Isom, Claudia Isom, Brian Isom, Sharon Isom, Richard Isom, Roger Isom and Damon Isom and grandson Ja’mir Stewart.

In addition to his wife and best friend Pastor Dierdre Isom, he leaves His children; Pia Bonds, Brittney Russell, Mahalia Berry, Ashley Boisclair, Eva Calabro, Curtis Isom, Marcus Davis, Jonathan Rodriguez Jyir Clark and other natural children not named, As well as his wife’s children; Taris Araujo and Skylar Araujo; his cherished grandchildren Elvin Russell, Edward Azakpo, Zyaire Russell, Armani Russell, Denise Johnson, Nasir Berry, X’zayvier Berry, Curtis Jr, Chand La’ann, Jaylan Davis, Aviyon Stewart and Journey Stewart. His siblings  Darell Isom, Todd Isom, Jason Isom, Rene Warren, Donna Isom, Dorene Dennis and Lisa Isom, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends who mourn the loss of Elder Curtis Isom but celebrate the life that they shared with him.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 24th at 9 am in the Holy Cross Church of God in Christ, 1014 Broad Street, Providence, RI. His Burial will be private.
