Obituary

- Doreen M. DiPaolo, 76, of Pawtucket, died on Friday, February 7, 2020 at Roger Williams Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Paul A. DiPaolo, Sr.

Born on June 6, 1943 in Providence, she was the devoted daughter of the late Clyde Wilson, Sr., USN (Ret.), and Mildred M. (Dailey) Wilson.

 

Doreen graduated from high school and went to college many years later, while working nights and taking care of her 4 children.

In 1974, Doreen started her impressive career in the field of nursing. She began her career as a Staff Nurse in the Special Care Nursery at Women & Infants. In 1980, Doreen became a Charge Nurse at the Convalescent Nursery. After holding that position, she was promoted to Neonatal Follow-Up Nursing Coordinator.

 

Doreen always enjoyed her job and certainly had a feeling of satisfaction when she was instrumental in any new procedures.

She was a co-author of a Teaching Plan that as to be used in a Discharge Teaching Class. She also arranged for the first air-transport of a neonate and she reinstated discharge planning rounds in the Special Care Nursery. She truly cared about her little patients and their well-being.

 

In her spare time, Doreen enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with her treasured and adored family and her dog, Simba.

 

She is survived by her 4 proud children, Dawn White and her husband Robert, Darlene Lembo and her husband Robert, Lori Bilodeau and her husband Michael, and Paul A. DiPaolo, Jr. and his wife Cheri; her 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Lorraine Doyle and Gloria Arruda; and also many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Doreen is predeceased by her brothers, Gerald Wilson and Clyde Wilson, Jr.

 

Doreen’s funeral will be on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 9 AM from A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Raymond’s Church, 1240 N Main St, Providence. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday February 13, 2020 from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
