Estelle J. DeShaies

DeShaies, Estelle J. (DiMeo), 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Rose (D’Ordine) DiMeo. Estelle is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl DeShaies and Stephen Vannelli, and her devoted brother, John Dimeo. She is also survived by a nephew, Joseph Balasco of Barrington. Her entire family will miss her dearly.

She was the sister of the late Marie DiMeo and Evelyn Balasco.

Estelle was a singer with a beautiful voice. She sang professionally in her younger years, and also as a soloist and choir member at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member. At Emmanuel, she served on the Pastoral Relations Committee and held the position of Music Committee Chairwoman. She worked for many years manufacturing workplace products to keep people safe in hazardous conditions. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed and appreciated the delight this brought to her family. Her wonderful sense of humor kept her laughing through the most difficult circumstances. Her heart was big, wishing everyone else all good things.

A service will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 10am at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 529 Charles St., Providence. Burial will follow at North Burial Ground, Providence. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
