Florence E. Straiten

Straiten, Florence E. (Johnson) 78, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side of June 19, 2019. She was the wife of the late Julius Straiten. Born in South Kingstown she was the daughter of the late John F. and Alice (Jordan) Johnson. She was a Narragansett Indian Tribe Elder. She was the loving mother of John Pompey Councilman of the Narragansett Indian Tribe, Brian, Ernest, and William Pompey, Rowena Smith, Florence Northup, Jaqueline Pompey, Joy Moore, and Dina Perry. She was the mother of the late Julius, Joseph Pompey, and Dominga Johnson. She leaves a host of grand, great, and great great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews, and her Godchildren. She was the sister of William and John Johnson, and the late Joseph and Benjamin Johnson, Mary Straiten, Sandra Johnson, and Rebecca Robinson. She was the mother in law to Robert Moore, and ia Pompey, and the late Eugene Johnson. Visitation will be held Thursday June 27, 2019 in The A.A. Mariani and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence from 6 to 9 P.M. also Friday morning from 10 to 11 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11. Burial will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
