Pickett, Francis J. Esq. 82, passed away on April 27, 2017 with his family by his side.  He was the husband of the late Virginia (McDonough) Pickett.  Born in Providence he was the son of the late Francis J. and Amelia (Jackvony) Pickett.

A member of the RI Bar Association, he was appointed Counsel for the Department of Natural Resources, worked as a Special Assistant Attorney General and was a Probate Judge for the City of East Providence.  He was employed as Special Counsel for the RI. D.O.T. before embarking on his most rewarding professional accomplishment as staff attorney in the court appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program where he retired as Director in 2008.  He proudly served in the Air National Guard.

He is survived by his loving children, Francis J. Pickett III, and Kristin Abbruzzi, his adoring granddaughter Virginia Grace Abbruzzi who he

affectionately called “His Dumpling”.  He was the brother of Robert T. Pickett, and Eloise P. Pickett.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 8:30AM from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Brendan Church, 60 Turner Ave. Riverside. Calling hours will be held Monday 4 to 7.  Burial with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
