Frederick D'Agostino

October 10, 1926 ~ June 12, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

D’Agostino, Frederick 90, passed away peacefully on Monday June 12, 2017 at Berkshire Place, Providence.  He was the husband of the late Gloria (Rossi) D’Agostino.  They had been married sixty-eight years prior to Gloria passing.  Born in Providence he was the son of the late John and Anna (Paolino) D’Agostino. Fred was the co-owner of Eagle Laundry and Dry Cleaners which he started with his father in the early forties.  He was drafted in WW II and served his country by entertaining the troops in California while serving with the army band.  He had the good fortune to have played with such greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Tommy Dorsey, and others.  Upon his return to RI he continued to work with his father in developing Eagle Laundry during the day and at night performed with his trio.  Fred became a pioneer in the area of dry cleaning.  His interests were boating, was an avid boater, and was known for his boat in which was named the “RICKADEE”.  He later rode out the 1954 hurricane to save his beloved RICKADEE.  He later became a founding member of the Warwick Cove Yacht Club and eventually became Commodore.

He is survived by his loving children, Richard D. D’Agostino Ed.D and his wife Teresa of Smithfield, Fred S. D'Agostino and his wife Barbara of Warwick, and John T. D'Agostino and his wife Joan of Saunderstown,  cherished grandfather of John, Lyssia, Maycie, and Richard D’Agostino, his six great-grandchildren.  He was the brother of Carmela Buontempo.

His funeral will be held on Friday June 16, 2017 at 8:45 AM from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St. Providence.  Calling hours will be Thursday 4 to 7 PM.  Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Providence.
