Obituary

PROVIDENCE- George M. Aquilante, 85, of Providence, passed away at his residence on Friday, May 29, 2020.

Born on May 21, 1935, in Providence, he was the dear son of the late Leo and Marie (Iantonio) Aquilante.

A hard working man, George worked as a union construction laborer, belonging to Laborer Union #271. Before being in the union, he worked as a custodial engineer for the Providence School Department.

In his spare time, George enjoyed bowling and watching sports, especially Red Sox baseball. He liked to socialize with friends and he was most happy when he was in the presence of and making memories with his loving family.

George is survived by his cherished children: Joan Aquilante, Brenda Gauthier and husband Louis, George Aquilante, and Michael Aquilante and wife Eileen; his 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his brother, Joseph Aquilante; his sister, Rose Giardello; and also many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, George is predeceased by his treasured children: Ronald Aquilante and Lisa Erice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend George’s visitation, on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, from 10AM-12PM at A.A. MARIANI AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial at St. Ann’s Cemetery.

In accordance with State of RI mandates, only 15 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time during the visitation and 40 people will be allowed to attend the interment at the cemetery. Masks must be worn at all times.
