Obituary

PROVIDENCE- Gloria Y. Engutsian, 69, of Providence, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Born on August 16, 1950, in Providence, she was the dear daughter of the late Asadoor “Oscar” and Lucy (Goolgasian) Engutsian.

Gloria was a member of the Class of 1968 that graduated from Hope High School in Providence. She furthered her educating by attending and completing coursework to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Clark University in Worcester.

In her spare time, Gloria had many hobbies and interests. She like to read and keep up with current events in the news. She enjoyed watching PBS and educational channles. Gloria enjoyed good food and her favorite beverage, Dunkin Donuts iced coffee. She had a love for birds and cats, and she also had an interest in flowers.

Gloria was a loving family member and always enjoyed time people spent with her. She was always interested in how someone was and what was happening in their life. She was always attentive in listening to others and truly liked to hear other stories. Gloria would always think thoughtfully before responding and you would never hear her talk ill of anyone. Her trademark response was, “What were they thinking.” She was a private person, but she loved all and all loved her.

Gloria is survived by her cherished maternal first cousins: Betty Ann Goolgasian of Providence; Martin Goolgasian of Hope, RI; Agnes Zanfardino and Ocean, NJ; Gail Goolgasian of Weymouth, MA; and Jeffrey Goolgasian of Scituate, MA. She will be missed by her paternal first aunt, Irene Cloutier of Pawtucket. Gloria will be fondly remembered by her paternal first cousins: Jason Cloutier of Pawtucket; Paul Cloutier of Jupiter, FL; and Julie Cox of Fairport, NY.

In addition to her parents, Gloria is predeceased by her first cousin, James John Goolgasian.

Due to the current restrictions, funeral services will take place privately. Gloria will be laid to rest at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, with her loving parents.
