Ida (Liberatore) Ricci

PROVIDENCE- Ida Ricci, 94, a lifelong resident of Providence, passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, 2020, at her home in the presence of her devoted children. She was the dear wife of the late Carlo Ricci.

Born on October 29, 1925, in Providence, Ida was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Gaetana (D’Agostino) Liberatore.

From 1953-1970, Ida worked with her brother, Blake, at his business, Blake’s Variety, located in the North End neighborhood of Providence. She loved working there and socializing with all store regulars and serving the people of the neighborhood. Following her time at Blake’s Variety, Ida worked for the Providence Public Schools, where she assisted with the schools’ lunch program.

Ida was a member of the DaVinci Center for Community Progress.In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and decorating her home . Ida was quite the people person and she was happiest in the company of others.

Ida is survived by her two cherished daughters, Linda Ricci and Carleen Masso and her husband, Vincent; her two granddaughters, Tammie McGrath and her husband, Jared and Lani Chou and her husband Jason; her two great-grandsons, Samuel McGrath and Max Chou; and also, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ida is predeceased by her siblings, Santino Liberatore, Jennie San Antonio, Domenic Liberatore, Virgilio “Blake” Liberatore, Anthony Liberatore Jr., Frank Liberatore, Anna Liberatore, and Raymond Liberatore.

Due to the restrictions of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Ida’s funeral services and burial at St. Francis Cemetery will be held privately. A Memorial Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Providence, will be held at a time and date to be announced.
