McNamara, John F. 70, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side on September 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen (Kelly) McNamara, his two children, David McNamara and Erin Simard, and her husband Charles, and his sister Mary DeFlorian. He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Mary McNamara, and his brother Daniel McNamara. He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, class of 1964. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed his career of over 30 years in the lighting industry. He was a lifelong resident of North Providence, Rhode Island.

His funeral will be held on Monday October 2, 2017, at 8:45 AM from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Augustine Church 639 Mount Pleasant Ave. Providence.  Burial details are being finalized.  Calling hours will be Sunday evening from 3 to 6 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bishop McVinney scholarship fund in the name of John McNamara. Payable to Bishop McVinney School 155 Gordon Avenue Providence, RI  02905.
