John “Jack” W. Tabis Jr, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in North Providence on Monday, April 11, 2022.
He was the son of the late John and Josephine (Peterson) Tabis of Providence, RI. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Maryann (Bercen) Tabis; his children Terri Capozza (Paul) and the late Jack C. Tabis (Kelly) and grandchildren, Damian, Justin, Nicholas, Matthew and Alexandria. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Greene (Dennis) and a brother Dennis Tabis (Beth).
Jack worked as a welder for American Equipment and Fabricating for over 40 years before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and long walks in the woods. He mostly enjoyed bird watching from his backyard deck.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 20th at 8:30am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
