Joseph H Carbone

Carbone, Joseph H. 88, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018.  He was the husband of Jean M. (Sweet) Carbone. They had just celebrated their 67 wedding anniversary on July 14, 2018.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Rampini) Carbone.

Known affectionately as “Papa Joe” and “The Mayor of Twin Oaks”, Joe had worked at R.A. DiPrete Hardware in Cranston for many years prior to its closing. He then went to work for the State of Rhode Island first at the Board of Elections and then in the maintenance division at the Garrahy Court House prior to his retirement in 2002 when he moved to Florida.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters Paula (Carbone) Lamoriello and her husband Nicholas, and Cindy (Carbone) Roy and her husband Paul.  He was the adoring Papa of Mark Lamoriello (Heather), Nicole (Lamoriello) Toro (Anthony), Paul “PJ” Roy (Kristen), Michael Roy (Nicole), Haley, Jonah, Shane, and Hanna Lamoriello. Great-Papa to Mitchell, and Brett Lamoriello, Adriana, Nicholas, and Christian Toro.  He was the brother of, and Dolores (Carbone) Cairone, and Guido Carbone. He also leaves several loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anna Carbone, Amelia Miele, Dorothy Mizzoni, Linda Crimaldi, Perry DiGregorio, Anthony, Arthur, Jean, and Michael Carbone.

His funeral will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 at 8:45 AM at the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, followed by a Funeral Home Service at 10 AM. Calling hours will be held Thursday 4 to 7 PM.  Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
