Obituary

Pino, Joseph E., 93, of Lincoln RI passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2018. He was the loving husband of 57 years to the late Helena (DeSimone) Pino.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Catherine (Perruto) Pino and Michael Pino.  

He is survived by his daughter Anne (Pino) Roselli, son Joseph E. Pino Jr. and daughter-in-law Violeta B. Pino, and sister Elaine (Pino) Cristi. He leaves his grandchildren Anita (Roselli) Martin and her husband Ron Martin, Richard A. Roselli, Kiana A. Pino, Rhianna Kai Pino, his great-grandchildren Kayla N. Martin and Eden K. Martin, and 27 nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary (Pino) Nassa, Benjamin Pino, Matthew Pino, Lee Roy Pino, Francis Pino and Evelyn (Pino/Giorgi) Fandetti.

Joseph, a World War II veteran, served as a Gunner’s Mate in the United States Navy.

Joseph was a Building Contractor by trade.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Hall of Famer in the Sons of Italy and in the Wanskuck Boys and Girls Club. He was an avid golfer and experienced the thrill of a hole-in-one. He was President of the Roger Williams Striper Club (fishing) and the RISKI Ski Club. Snow Skiing was his real passion. He started in his 40’s, and kept going well into his 70’s achieving National Downhill Ski Racing Champion Status.

He led by example of living life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who knew him.

His funeral will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018 at 7:45 AM from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St. Providence.  Calling hours will be held Friday 4 to 7 PM.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY 10305.
