Joseph Anthony Santoro

October 12, 1947 ~ November 7, 2021 (age 74)


Santoro, Joseph Anthony., 74, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at home.

He was the beloved husband of Gale (Cook) Santoro. They were happily married for 29 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son the late John and Marcelia “Martha” (Quattrocchi) Santoro.

Joe took over the the leadership of his father’s business, Santoro Oil, when his father retired to focus on his health. Having graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1969 with a degree in business, he diligently went to work helping to build Santoro Oil into one of the most respected oil companies in Rhode Island. A few years later, John and Anthony joined their brother, Joe, working together, they grew the company into the largest family owned oil companies in RI, expanding into VA, MA, NC and CT. The bond of love, family and trust between the three brothers was inseparable.

Joe was the recipient of the Legends of Oil Heat Award by the New England Fuel Institute in 2017. He was an avid New York Yankees and New England Patriot fan. Joe and his brothers have sponsored the Lincoln Little League for over a decade. Joe was also a large supporter of the Meeting Street School in Providence.

Joe was a kind, genuine and loving man who resided in the town of Lincoln for over 38 years. He loved traveling with his wife, Gale and their children, Joseph (Joey) and Jaime. Some of his favorite trips included France, Egypt, South Africa, Arizona and Marco Island. Joe’s great sense of humor will be missed.


Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Leah Murphy and her husband Robert, Joseph J Santoro and Jaime Lyn Santoro; devoted brothers, John C. Santoro and his wife Lisa and Anthony M. Santoro and his wife Donna and sisters, Karen Santoro and Ann Castaldi and her husband Angelo.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Marlayna and Sabrina and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His funeral will be held Friday, November 12th at 8am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St. Ann’s Church, 280 Hawkins St., Providence. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm. Relatives and friends attending will be required to wear masks and practice social distancing.
