Julius B. Pompey 47, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 with his family by his side. He was the longtime companion of Andrea Smith. Born in Providence he was the son of Florence (Johnson) Straiten, and the late Julius Straiten.
Julius had worked for many years as a meat packer at Quality Beef Company, in Providence.
Besides his companion and mother, he is survived by his loving children, Sheckilia Taylor, Julius B. Pompey-Smith, Ja Juan Taylor, Sha Quana Pompey-Smith, Charles Taylor, Jennifer Smith, Benjamin Smith “Kimora Smith”, Ty-Shawn Smith, Dominga Smith, and Julius Taylor. His cherished grandchildren Nova’Lee Taylor, Kobe Taylor, Parislondon Smith, Ka’tie Taylor, Jayla Taylor, Jajuan Taylor Jr. Jahsi Taylor, Julius Pompey – Smith Jr. Damani Smith, Jymair Alden, Zyion Alden, Ariah Martins. Also survived by his siblings, John, Ernest, William, Brian Pompey, Rowena Smith, Florence Northup, Jaqueline Pompey, and Joylynn Moore and her husband Robert. He was the brother of the late Joseph Pompey and Dominga Johnson.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday March 14, 2018 from 9 to 11 AM in the A.A. Mariani & Son unreal Home, 200 Hawkins St. Providence followed by a Funeral Home Service at 11 AM. Burial will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
