Lena L. Ferreira

North Providence- Lena L. Ferreira, 94, of North Providence, passed away at Sunnymere Senior Living in Aurora, Illinois two days shy of her 95th birthday, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. She was the devoted and dear wife for 46 years to the late Manuel O. Ferreira, whom passed away on May 3, 1988.

Born on May 28, 1925, she was one of ten children born to two immigrants from Italy, the late Santo and Domenica (Cardente) Musumeci.

Lena was employed as a jewelry carder at International Insignia in Providence RI.

A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner at St. Ann’s Church in Providence.

In her spare time, Lena had many hobbies and interests.  She loved cooking, sewing, needlework, enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going to the movies and watching ballroom dancing at the senior center.

Lena was a loving “Italian” mother who enjoyed nothing more than cooking for her family.  To Lena food was more than just a basic need, it meant family, culture and love to have her family gathered to partake in the celebration of a meal. 

Lena is survived by her cherished sons, Robert Ferreira and his wife Jean of North Providence and David Ferreira and his wife Donna of Naperville, Illinois; her sister, Evelyn Ricci of North Providence; and also, many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late husband and parents, Lena is predeceased by her late siblings, Anna, Sammy, Armando, Rosie, twins Luigi and Carrie, Anthony and Tommy.  

Due to the current restrictions, funeral services will be held privately. Lena will be laid to rest at St. Ann’s Cemetery, along with her husband and parents.
