Leonard J. Corrente, 95, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (DiDonato) Corrente for 72 years.
Born in Providence, he was one of 9 children born to the late Alfonzo and Maria (Estoni) Corrente. Lenny was one of the original members of Union Local 271, Providence and became a member of its executive board. He then went on to become an instructor for the New England Laborers Union Training Academy. When he retired he had dedicated over 70 years of his life to the Union.
He is a Marine Veteran of World War II, serving honorably with the First Marine Division in the Pacific Theatre.
Lenny enjoyed wintering in Bal Harbour, FL with his wife and was a passionate New York Yankees fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Leonard A. Corrente, Donna Corrente, Kathy DiZoglio, Lisa Bruce and her husband Scott; four grandchildren, Kenny Marion, Kara Garceau, Gianna and Gabriella DiZoglio; three great-grandchildren, twins Brandon and Kyle Marion, and Brayden Garceau, with another on the way; and his beloved dog, Philly.
Visiting hours will be at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, Wednesday 9:30am-10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. His family kindly requests to omit flowers and make memorial donations to the Providence Animal Rescue League, parl.org.
