Lewis W. Maker

Lewis William Maker (Bill), 90 of Westport, MA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Bethana (Whitaker) Maker.  They were happily married for 64 years.

Born in Pelham, N.Y. he was the son of the late Lewis Maker and Ruth Abbott Maker.  Bill attended Salisbury School,  Hamilton and Springfield Colleges.  Bill was a longtime owner of United States Supply Co., an avid sportsman, punner extraordinaire, loyal caregiver, and lover of life. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Jeffrey Lewis Maker and his wife Sharon Payne Maker, Joyce Maker Blackall and her husband Gren Blackall, and Sarah H. Maker. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren:  Patterson M. Miller and Jeffrey Hobbs Maker, brothers Whitaker H. Trebella and Stoddard  Chandler Blackall, and sisters  Emily Joyce Deyst and Hannah Elizabeth Maker Deyst.  He was the brother of the late Jonathan (Jack) Maker and Thomas (Tom) Maker.  

His family and friends will miss his quick wit, his dedication to golf (he won numerous championships), his devotion to the Red Sox, his deep love for hunting dogs, and his ever-ready Yankee ingenuity. A celebration of his life will take place in Westport, MA in the summer of 2020.
