Lucy Fascitelli

October 20, 1917 ~ October 12, 2018 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Obituary

Fascitelli, Lucy (Orsini) 100, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on October 12, 2018.  She was the wife of the late Romolo “Romeo” Fascitelli.  Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Francesca (Antonini) Orsini.

She spent her formative years in the seaside city of Formia, Italy. Lucy's interest in Italian cuisine began in Formia at her father's trattoria aptly named "Cucina Casalinga". As a young adult, Lucy returned to Providence and enjoyed spending time with her family here in the U.S. while continuing to communicate regularly with her relatives in Italy.  Through the years, Lucy would return many time to Formia and Fondi, where her Orsini cousins and their families resided and reside to this day.  She loved to travel to Europe where she embraced new experiences by meeting new people, appreciating art and architecture, sampling regional cuisines and expanding her enjoyment of history.  Venice became her favorite city.  In 1947, Lucy and Romolo “Romeo” were married at Holy Ghost Church and spent 40 years together.  She raised three children, all educators in the Providence School System.  Her grandchildren, Leah and Lauren, were a great joy to her life.  Lucy’s life was filled with love of home, family, cooking, collecting items of beauty, and music.  Lucy’s secret of a long life is staying active and motivated, having a positive attitude, and enjoying each day with her family and friends.  Lucy was a communicant of St. Augustine Church for many years.

She is survived by her loving children, Robert Fascitelli of Providence, Linda Coulombe and her husband Roger of Swansea, MA, and Lucille Burke of Narragansett.  She was the beloved grandmother of Leah and Lauren Coulombe.  She was the mother- in- law of the late Daniel Burke, and the sister of the late Joseph Orsini.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 8:45 A.M. from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Augustine Church, 635 Mount Pleasant Ave., Providence.  Calling hours will be held Monday 5 to 8 P.M.  Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
