Mario Domenic Aceto, 91, of Mechanicsville, VA, Professor (ret VCU), died peacefully at home on September 18, 2020. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Valdrighi Aceto and by his first wife, Barbara Tomei Aceto; his parents, Pasquale Aceto and Concetta Aceto and sister, Olga Marcaccio.
He is survived by his sons, David Aceto (Catherine) of Pittsburgh, PA and Steven Aceto, Ph.D of Wynantskill, NY, stepdaughter, Michele Elliott (Michael) of Mechanicsville, VA, stepsons, L. Joseph Massei (Irena) of Barre, MA, L. John Massei (Robin) of Mechanicsville, VA, two grandchildren, Lydia Aceto of Pittsburgh, PA and Jonathan Aceto of Pittsburgh, PA., and his sister, Gina Cresto (Dominic) of Marco Island, FL.
Mario received his Ph.D from the University of Connecticut, his MS degree from the University of Maryland, and his BS in Pharmacy from the Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. Mario enjoyed research and teaching, travel, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Visiting hours will be at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, on Saturday October 1,st, from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at approximately 10:30 am in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
