Nicola Africo, 70, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Rost) Africo and the late Maureen (Murphy) Africo.
Born in San Pier Niceto , Sicily; he was the son of the late Biaggio and Rosaria (Puleio) Africo.
Nicola was the founder of Mr. Nick's Frozen Lemonade and Ice Cream in North Providence, R.I. for 20 years. He later started Mr. Nick's Trucking in Seekonk, Ma and was involved in the transportation industry for over 20 years until his retirement. Throughout his life, Nicola enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling around the country.
He was the father of the late Christopher M. Africo. He is survived by his loving children, Carl R. Africo and his wife Anne-Marie (VanNiewenhuize); Christina M Africo and her partner Jeremy Brelsford; his two stepchildren, Tracy and Jeffery Rost; loving brother, Domenico Africo and loving sisters, Grazia DiFusco and Maria Africo. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Ariana, Nicolas, Richard, Nico, and Massimo Africo; and step-grandchildren, Harmony and Brettly Rost.
His funeral will be held Friday, September 25th at 9am from the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will be private.
