Obituary

ANDREONI, ORLANDO A., ESQ, "ANDY"

79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Lacourse) Andreoni. They were happily married for 20 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Orlando J. and Marie (Guatieri) Andreoni.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, Michael,

Julie, and Jeffrey Andreoni and Brenden Gauch. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Siobhan, Orlando, Stacy and Tyson; and a brother Rodney J. Andreoni.

Orlando had a long and illustrious career in the legal profession which spanned over five decades. He was also a successful restaurateur, most notably for the legendary Culling House restaurant in East Providence. His community involvement can be observed through his numerous memberships and presidencies in the following professional and social organizations:

 

President of the Justinian Law Society of Rhode Island

Member of the Board of Directors of the Japan-American Society and Black Ships Festival of Rhode Island, Inc.

Former President and current member of the Board of Directors of the Italo-American Club of Rhode Island;

Former President of the Pawtucket Bar Association;

Member of the Anawan Club in Massachusetts;

Former President of the Christian Brothers Boys Association;

Former Member of the Board of Directors of Community Boating, Providence, RI

Served as Vice chairman of the Democratic Party 

 

In addition, his professional accomplishments went beyond law, extending into the actual administration of the city, including: City Solicitor for East Providence, City Manager, and legal consul for the house judiciary. He was an alumnus of Suffolk University Law School, University of Rhode Island, and LaSalle Academy, and was even an occasional radio personality.

 

His funeral will be held Saturday, February 15th at 9am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Ann's Church, 280 Hawkins St., Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visitation Friday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: The Autism Project, 1516 Atwood Ave., Johnston, RI 02919.
