Obituary

Pauline Thompson 87, of Providence, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, February 21st, surrounded by the love and comfort of her beloved family.

She was the loving & devoted wife of the late Leon Lee Thompson Sr for 42 years, until God called him home.

Born on December 5, 1936, in Baxter, Georgia, she was one of 13 children of the late Paul and Josephine (Dorche) Hall. In addition to her one sibling, Frank E. Hall of Jacksonville, Florida, she is survived by her 10 children, Leon Thompson Jr. of Warwick, Joanna Horton of Providence, Charles Thompson of Henderson, NC, Tyrone Thompson of Providence, Vivian Worthy of Providence, Elaine Taylor of Providence, Theresa Thompson of Jamaica, Queens, Michelle Parsons of Providence, Josephine White Of Germantown, Maryland, Marlene Davis of Providence; as well as a Grandmother to 47, a great-Grandmother to 56, and a great-great-Grandmother to 1. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Leon Lee Sr, her son’s Donald & Robert Thompson, and her grandson’s Leon Pablo Thompson, William Earl Parsons, & Robert Thompson Jr, as well as her son-in-law's William Earl Parsons Sr & Darrell Worthy, and her daughter-in-law DeborahThompson.

To have met, known, love, or be loved by her was a blessing from God. She was the most loving, caring, kind, gentle, compassionate, generous, selfless, wholesome, faithful woman of God to grace this Earth. You would never know what pains, trials, tribulations, and adversity she faced because she was always positive & kept a smile on her face even when there wasn’t much to smile about. She carried herself with so much grace and poise, she embodied being feminine. She always made everyone feel loved and welcomed and found immense joy and happiness when her house was full of family, laughing, cooking dancing, and loving each other. She had an aura & energy that surrounded her, you had no choice but to feel good being around her. She was full of wisdom, knowledge, & insight. She told great stories, was optimistic, and would always provide you with answers to questions you didn’t know you had. She could always make you laugh, could accurately predict the gender of your pregnancy before the doctors could tell you, gave nicknames to so many of her grandkids, & spoke and taught her family a language all her own. She was the epitome of strength and encompassed what a matriarch should be! Having birthed 12 children, which she raised alongside her husband of 42 years, the late Leon Sr, as well as aiding in the upbringing of countless grandchildren, to say her family was her world is an understatement! She was the definition of selfless, & never put herself before her loved ones and would give you her first & last without a second thought. She will beloved, remembered, and sorely missed by those who were blessed to be related to and know her. Although she is no longer with us on Earth, we all carry a piece of her with us, in our hearts & minds, as well as our countless memories.
