Obituary

 

Penta, Robert Joseph of Melbourne, Florida passed away on September 14, 2018 after a long illness.  He lived in Providence prior to moving to Florida 15 years ago.  He was the beloved husband of Carol J. (Blinkhorn) Penta. 

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Kristen Penta of Melbourne, FL, Deborah Traficante (husband Louis) of West Greenwich, RI, and Richard Grenier of W Warwick, RI.  He also leaves his brother David Penta (wife Gena) of Cranston, RI, and sisters Jean Angelone (husband John) of N Providence, RI, and Elaine Rao (husband Sammy) of Florida.  He leaves behind his 5 cherished grandchildren, Meagan, Daniel and Kellie Traficante all of West Greenwich, RI and Tara and Richard Grenier, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.  He was the loving Uncle to David Jr. and Juliana Penta.  He is preceded by his mother and father, William and Elvira (Todesco) Penta and his brother William (West) Penta.

 

Bob was a member of the Local Union 271 for over 50 years.  He was the foreman for Theanna Construction Company.  

 

Bob and his wife Carol bred and showed top winning Afghan Hounds under the kennel name of Yucatan.  His love for the breed made him a favorite of many of his peers throughout the country and Europe.  

 

He was an avid animal lover and adored his pets at home, especially his African Grey Parrot - Buddy.

 

His funeral will be held on Friday, September 21st at 8 am from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St, Providence.  Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  Visiting hours Thursday, September 20th from 4-7 pm.
