Tamke, Winifred S. 94, passed away peacefully on November 20,2017. She was the wife of the late Henry L. Tamke. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Lucien and Gladys (Whidden) Stone.

Mrs. Tamke was a loving mother to her son Henry and his wife Janice, and to her daughter Susan Zoppi. She was a cherished grandmother to Thomas Watts, Matthew Tamke, Melissa Norcross, Gerard Zoppi, and Zoe Zoppi, and great-grandmother to Jacob Tamke, Rosie Norcross, and Lily Norcross.

During WWII, she served her country as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. She was a registered nurse and worked as a night supervisor at the Miriam Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1988. 

Mrs.Tamke was a long-time communicant of Allendale Baptist Church and an active participant in many of its ministries. 

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the A.A.Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM. There will be a funeral home service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will be private.
